About the position

Located in Downtown Chicago, right off Magnificent Mile, University Eye Specialists provides comprehensive eye care services including medical, laser, and surgical treatment of eye diseases. Our doctors are experts in glaucoma and cataract management. Our team consists of three surgeons, one optometrist, and a great team of highly skilled and passionate employees. University Eye Specialists is recruiting an ambitious, enthusiastic and detail-oriented medical receptionist to join our Chicago team. This position offers a fast-paced and professional atmosphere, where employees are empowered to use their knowledge, skills and abilities to provide outstanding patient care. The right candidate must be energetic, personable, reliable and punctual. The work environment is friendly, and the benefits are great; experience in the ophthalmology field and familiarity with Epic software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients and guests including greeting them upon arrival, confirming identity and providing necessary information related to their visit.
• Completes check-in/out functions as directed.
• Confirms and updates patient identification and demographic/insurance information.
• Completes patient registration as needed.
• Obtains patient consents/authorizations.
• Collects co-payments, past due balances and point of service payments.
• Posts payments, processes billing information and performs end of day cash drawer closing.
• Keeps waiting area clean and comfortable.
• Informs patients of any delays or changes in appointment status.
• Schedules appointments as necessary.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
• 1 year of customer service experience (Preferred)
• 1 year of computer skills (Preferred)

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the ophthalmology field
• Familiarity with Epic software
