About the position

Spherion is currently seeking Extrusion Technicians for a temporary position in Wall Township, NJ, with the potential for a temp-to-hire opportunity within 4-6 months. This role is crucial for an expanding medical device company that specializes in manufacturing life-saving products. As an Extrusion Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting production machinery, specifically Thermoplastic Extruders and related equipment. This position requires adherence to established processes to ensure the efficient manufacture of medical components, which are vital to the company's mission of improving lives through innovative medical solutions. In this role, you will document your activities accurately and completely, following specific sequences of operations that include cleaning, equipment setups, cutting, inspection, and packing. You will also be expected to utilize arithmetic and measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers, to ensure precision in your work. A key aspect of the job is the ability to read and understand technical drawings and process specifications, which is essential for maintaining quality standards in production. The position involves working with various manufacturing-related liquids, including inks and isopropyl alcohol, and requires compliance with FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to follow general safety and manufacturing procedures as well as company policies. Effective communication in English is necessary to comprehend instructions and collaborate with team members. Additional duties may be assigned by management as needed, making flexibility and a willingness to learn important traits for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Setup/Operate/Troubleshoot production machinery such as Thermoplastic Extruders and line supporting equipment.
  • Document activities accurately and completely.
  • Follow sequences of operations in performing techniques such as cleaning, equipment setups, cutting, inspection, and packing.
  • Utilize arithmetic and measuring/inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, toolmaker microscope).
  • Read and understand drawings and process specifications.
  • Work with (and near) inks, isopropyl alcohol, and other manufacturing-related liquids.
  • Comply with FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), general safety and manufacturing procedures, and company practices and policies.
  • Read, comprehend, and communicate in English.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or similar experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in plastic extrusion, injection molding, or related experience.
  • Computer skills required: Inventory Software; Microsoft Office.
  • Mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and possess basic math skills.
