About the position

The Facilities Electrical and Electronics Technician is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of automated, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. This role involves inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, modifying, programming, and repairing various systems, including branch circuitry, power distribution, fire alarms, and automated lighting. The technician will respond to emergencies, assist lower-level technicians, and maintain a high level of customer service while adhering to safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, modify, program, and repair automated, electrical, and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations and evaluate and correct defects in systems.
  • Assist lower-level technicians and other trades as needed.
  • Document labor, materials, and work performed on work orders.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in electrical or electronic systems, with at least one year of analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic equipment and circuits.
  • Valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card within the probationary period.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates/technical degree or certificate in skilled trades/maintenance related field.
  • Basic understanding of university building design standards related to maintenance and repair of building systems.
