The Facilities Engineer - Chemical Engineer position is designed to provide technical leadership, innovation, and guidance in the planning, design, configuration, construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of gas and chemical (G&C) delivery equipment and systems. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various systems, including the Gas Life Safety System (GLSS) and Pump & Abatement (P&A) units. The engineer will be responsible for providing technical direction to R&D design engineers during the project conceptual design phase, interfacing with site user groups, other engineering disciplines, local municipalities and utilities, trade contractors, and other project stakeholders as necessary. In this role, the engineer will evaluate system capacities and capabilities, making recommendations for improvements, and will review and approve building construction, fit-up, and tool hook-up designs. The engineer will also develop, maintain, and update Lam's technical specifications for facilities process equipment and systems. As a knowledgeable expert, the engineer will provide engineering solutions to Product Groups, Project Management teams, and Operations teams for new process tool gas and chemicals, ensuring safe delivery and effective post-process gas and chemical abatement. Additionally, the engineer will lead discipline-specific systems operations and maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facilities. Core responsibilities include overseeing the design and operations of site facility chemical infrastructure, which encompasses specialty and bulk gas distribution systems, bulk chemical distribution, and small liquid organic precursor point-of-use dispense systems. The engineer will also be responsible for the integrity of supply quality for Ultra Pure Water (UPW) and all waste treatment systems, including waste collection lift stations and pumping systems. Monitoring and reporting the quality of high purity gas and water systems will also fall under the engineer's purview, along with leading technical reviews of projects concerning process systems to ensure proper design and adherence to Lam requirements.
