The Facility Maintenance Mechanic (Tank Farm) position is a permanent role based in Gainesville, GA, primarily focused on the maintenance and operation of tank farm facilities. The working hours are from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, and the role involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the unloading and management of solvents and propellants. The mechanic will be responsible for unloading solvent tanker trucks and rail cars according to established Work Instructions (WI), verifying material receipts, and assisting in the unloading of propellant into tanks. Daily tasks include the use of pumps, filters, and hoses for chemical and waste transfer, as well as collecting samples for laboratory testing. The mechanic will also be tasked with recording data from scales, meters, and gauges, and sending out daily inventory reports. In addition to these responsibilities, the mechanic must ensure that solvent tanks are kept full to support the operations of the compounding department without interruption. The role requires collaboration with other facility maintenance mechanics to maintain equipment, pumps, storage tanks, and piping in good operating condition. Completing necessary paperwork and participating in additional duties as assigned by the department supervisor or manager is also expected. Safety is a critical aspect of this position, as the mechanic must use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, complete various safety training programs, and maintain good housekeeping in the tank farm area. The mechanic will also be responsible for responding to and cleaning up incidental spills in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, and must be able to operate a forklift and the tank farm emergency shutdown system as needed.
