About the position

As the Facility Manager at Reworld Waste, you will be responsible for overseeing all localized activities of the transfer, storage, and disposal facility (TSDF). This includes ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, managing staffing, and overseeing waste management operations while maintaining profit and loss accountability. Your role is crucial in maximizing operational efficiency and economic performance across all facility operations. You will be expected to lead and coordinate with plant supervisors, ensuring that corporate and divisional initiatives are effectively implemented at the local level. In this position, you will coordinate daily communications with the local employee base regarding safety, compliance with regulatory authorities, and the cleanliness of plant property and equipment. You will work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) manager to ensure adherence to corporate and site-specific health and safety protocols. Additionally, you will manage the processing of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, ensuring compliance with RCRA, DOT, and customer restrictions while optimizing disposal practices. Your responsibilities will also include analyzing facility budget requests, sales, and activity reports to measure productivity and identify areas for cost reductions and program improvements. You will directly supervise facility employees, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and determining staffing requirements. Furthermore, you will pursue growth opportunities for the facility, establishing and implementing policies, goals, and procedures in collaboration with organizational officials. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, integrity, and leadership, as you will be responsible for fostering a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set clear expectations, lead, coordinate, train, and direct plant supervisors on initiatives from Corporate and Divisional leaders.
  • Coordinate and communicate daily with the local employee base regarding safety and compliance issues.
  • Work with the EHS manager to ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Manage the processing of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes according to regulations and customer restrictions.
  • Ensure efficient unloading and treatment practices.
  • Identify and eliminate processing bottlenecks.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and audits.
  • Analyze facility budget requests and performance data to identify cost reductions and improvements.
  • Directly supervise facility employees, including performance appraisals and conflict resolution.
  • Pursue unidentified facility growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • BA or equivalent plus; or ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and drive for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong organizational skills and safety awareness.
  • Integrity and ethical conduct in all job responsibilities.
  • Leadership skills with a willingness to take charge and provide direction.
