About the position

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a well-established agronomy retailer/services provider in hiring a Facility Operations Manager for their Fertilizer plant located in Western North Dakota. This position is crucial for managing and operating the Fertilizer Plant, Equipment, and Personnel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agronomy and fertilizer operations, ensuring the facility runs smoothly and efficiently. The Facility Operations Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with agricultural grower customers, acting as the first point of contact for their needs. This role requires a safety-focused individual who can promote a strong safety work environment while managing all full-time and seasonal employees affiliated with the plant. In addition to personnel management, the Facility Operations Manager will utilize best management practices for inventory control and will be responsible for operating all necessary equipment, including forklifts, skid steers, and front-end loaders. The role also involves maintaining all equipment, facilities, and other company assets, ensuring they are in good working order. The manager will assist in maintaining records and reports necessary to comply with government regulations and will play a key role in controlling operational expenses related to employees and maintenance costs. Supporting and complying with all company policies, procedures, goals, and objectives is essential for success in this position. The company is known for its high-quality products and seed brands with superior genetics, and the new state-of-the-art agronomy facility is scheduled to be operational by Spring 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate the Fertilizer Plant, Equipment, and Personnel.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with agricultural grower customers as the first point of contact.
  • Manage all full-time and seasonal employees affiliated with the plant.
  • Utilize best management practices for inventory control.
  • Operate all equipment including forklift, skid steer, and front-end loader.
  • Maintain all equipment, facilities, and other company assets.
  • Safely and efficiently use materials and machines.
  • Assist with maintaining records and reports necessary to comply with government regulations.
  • Assist in operational expense control with regard to employees and maintenance costs.
  • Support and comply with all company policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; 2- or 4-year degree beneficial.
  • Ag background and experience overseeing an Agronomy facility preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising Agronomy Operations personnel preferred.
  • Experience operating/maintaining equipment, machinery, and hand tools is a must.
  • Safety-focused with the ability to maintain/promote a strong safety work environment.
  • Solid communication skills, including verbal and written, as well as timely record keeping and reporting.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US.
