About the position

The Facility Solutions Manager (FSM) is a pivotal role within Hensel Phelps, focusing on the management and execution of Commissioning Management across multiple projects. This position requires a strong background in MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) systems and building controls, ensuring that all facility management processes and solutions are delivered effectively. The FSM will work closely with the Facility Solutions Regional Manager and will be supported by remote Facility Solutions Associates, emphasizing a collaborative approach to project management. In this role, the FSM will be responsible for interfacing with MEPF trade partners, coordinating plan development, inspections, and the commissioning testing process. The position demands a comprehensive understanding of standard MEPF/building controls testing procedures and the ability to manage a team to deliver Operational Project Readiness (OPR) while driving the Commissioning Management (CxM) services. The FSM will also review contract documents to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements and develop project-specific commissioning and execution plans. The FSM will maintain a Cx schedule based on critical path milestones, establish testing and certification requirements, and develop detailed commissioning scripts. Effective communication is essential, as the FSM will lead project Cx team meetings, track issue resolution, and oversee documentation management through commissioning software platforms. This role is integral to ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of operational readiness and functionality, contributing to the overall success of Hensel Phelps' facility services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute Commissioning Management on multiple projects.
  • Interface and coordinate with MEPF trade partners through plan development and inspections.
  • Directly manage the commissioning testing process.
  • Develop project-specific commissioning and execution plans according to contract documents.
  • Establish testing and certification requirements for equipment documentation management.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning schedules based on CPM milestones.
  • Lead project commissioning team meetings and communicate schedules and issues.
  • Document MEPF equipment inspections and testing processes.
  • Track and drive issue resolution to support the start-up and commissioning process.
  • Oversee management and document control of commissioning progress via software platforms.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial construction with an MEPF/building controls contractor, general contractor, or Cx agency.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in Facilities Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management, Engineering, or MEP Construction Management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Cloud.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to troubleshoot and optimize facilities processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial data relating to facilities operations.
  • Good understanding of critical facility environments, including hospitals, airports, and data centers.
