About the position

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking an experienced Farm Workshop Manager for a prominent agricultural operation located in California. The ideal candidate will possess a strong maintenance and mechanical background, with the ability to effectively manage the workshop and maintenance requirements of the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that all equipment and machinery are maintained to the highest company standards and protocols. The Farm Workshop Manager will work closely with farm managers to maintain strong communication and ensure that maintenance schedules and service intervals for all machinery are organized and implemented as required. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's fleet of agricultural and/or construction equipment. This includes overseeing maintenance personnel within the department, managing inventory to ensure sufficient parts and consumables are available, and minimizing equipment downtime. The role also requires the ability to communicate effectively, mentor, and train employees under their supervision, fostering the best performance from each team member. In addition to personnel management, the Farm Workshop Manager will coordinate with farm managers regarding equipment repairs, both in the workshop and in the field, addressing any delays or concerns that may arise. Prioritizing work scheduling based on the demands of farming operations is essential, as is maintaining a clean and safe workshop area that adheres to company protocols and health and safety culture. Keeping accurate service and maintenance records for all machinery and equipment is also a critical responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the company's fleet of agricultural and/or construction equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance personnel within the department.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering sufficient parts and consumables to maximize efficiency and limit equipment downtime.
  • Communicate with Farm Managers to organize and implement maintenance schedules and service intervals for all machinery.
  • Mentor and train employees under supervision to develop their performance.
  • Coordinate with farm managers on equipment repairs in the workshop and field, addressing any delays or concerns.
  • Prioritize work scheduling based on farming operations demands.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workshop area, adhering to company protocols and health and safety culture.

Requirements

  • AAS or BS University degree or equivalent in mechanics is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong maintenance and mechanical background.
  • Good personnel management and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of agricultural machinery.
