About the position

The FEA/Strain Gauge Engineer is responsible for the custom electro-mechanical design of semi-automated and automated test equipment throughout the manufacturing build process. This role involves analyzing engineering proposals, optimizing designs for cost and manufacturability, and conducting finite element analysis to ensure product feasibility and compliance with customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering proposals and related technical data to determine feasibility of product proposals.
  • Consult with sales and customers to satisfy customer objectives.
  • Apply engineering principles to develop effective designs for products and subsystems.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews.
  • Optimize design for cost, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Research and solve complex technical problems independently or collaboratively.
  • Create finite element models based on analysis results.
  • Run finite element modeling in various environments.
  • Conduct finite element analysis in electrical, electro-magnetic, and multi-physics environments.
  • Perform analytical studies for mechanism dynamics and force analysis.
  • Conduct strain gauge testing to validate product design.

Requirements

  • A 4-year college degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • A minimum of one year previous work experience in a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Technical competence in creating engineering drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Ansys.
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve complex technical problems.
  • Understanding of Vishay strain gauge data collection and rosettes used for strain gauge testing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a high workload and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multi-physics environments for finite element analysis.
  • Familiarity with ITAR regulations and prototype confidentiality.
