About the position

The Faculty Group Practice X-Ray Technologist at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging while maintaining patient comfort and safety. This role involves collaboration with medical staff, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with patients throughout the imaging process.

Responsibilities

  • Performs medically prescribed radiographic procedures.
  • Maintains supplies and cleanliness of the radiographic area.
  • Assists in completion of special projects and reports.
  • Demonstrates skill in equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Performs quality control checks of X-ray equipment.
  • Observes and reports any malfunctioning of the equipment.
  • Recognizes medical emergencies and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Incorporates proper radiation safety procedures into all procedures.
  • Uses imaging software for segmentation and analysis of images.
  • Generates high-quality hard copies of images when necessary.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies in advance for future exams.
  • Explains procedures and equipment to patients clearly.
  • Provides patient comfort and maintains rapport throughout procedures.
  • Positions patients and adjusts equipment settings for optimal imaging.
  • Checks patient wristbands to ensure correct identification.
  • Consults policy manuals to ensure compliance with protocols.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

Requirements

  • Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • New York State license or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
