About the position

The Field Mechanical Engineer - Mine Hoist position at ABB involves providing technical support and leading maintenance programs for hoist systems. The role requires both on-site and remote assistance for equipment installation, commissioning, and routine maintenance, ensuring safety and operational efficiency. The engineer will also consult with customers, troubleshoot complex equipment failures, and suggest improvements to products and services.

Responsibilities

• Serve as contact for all technical aspects after the system start-up and lead the maintenance program for hoist systems.
• Provide on-site or remote technical support for installation and commissioning of equipment and routine maintenance.
• Conduct mechanical hoisting system inspections and audits to ensure proper operation and safety levels.
• Consult with and advise customers on the best service solutions according to standard processes and safety guidelines.
• Identify potential equipment failures and take corrective actions, troubleshooting complex equipment failures.
• Report work done in a timely manner and follow up when needed.
• Make suggestions for product, quality, and customer service improvements and discuss them with management.
• Provide hands-on support at customer sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required, preferably mechanical.
• Minimum 2 years of related experience with industrial systems.
• Knowledge and experience with mine hoist systems are a definite asset.
• Strong customer focus and ability to relate well to customer needs.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and brake control systems.
• Knowledge of industrial cooling systems.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D modeling would be an asset.
• Experience in the Mining Industry would be an asset.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write reports and speak effectively before customers or employees.
• Valid passport and driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks 3D modeling.
