About the position

Elekta is seeking an Associate Field Service Engineer who will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare professionals by ensuring the functionality and reliability of our state-of-the-art medical equipment. This position is vital in our mission to improve and save lives, particularly for those dealing with cancer. The Associate Field Service Engineer will be responsible for performing mechanical and electronic repairs on medical devices, including high-energy ionizing radiation equipment, while maintaining the highest level of professional representation between the customer and the company. The role requires a customer-focused individual who can troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently, ensuring that all administrative requirements are met in a timely manner. In this position, the engineer will perform low-risk troubleshooting and repairs on designated modalities, demonstrating a success rate in diagnosing problems that aligns with their training and experience. The engineer will also be responsible for training and performing supervised calibrations and preventative maintenance on assigned modalities. Safety is paramount, as the engineer will work in confined areas with high current and high voltages, requiring critical depth perception and the ability to gauge distances accurately. The role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams, as well as submitting timely service reports and managing parts inventory according to company objectives. The Associate Field Service Engineer will also be expected to uphold Elekta's values in all departmental functions and responsibilities, adhering to company policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Perform low risk troubleshooting and repairs on designated modalities with a success rate of diagnosing the problem commensurate with training level and experience.
  • Follow escalation procedures as needed and show continual progression of expertise.
  • Successfully train and perform supervised calibrations and preventative maintenance on assigned modalities.
  • Work safely in confined areas, including high current / high voltages modulators (20-50 kV, 1500A) and use peripheral vision to gauge distances.
  • Read, analyze, interpret, and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Submit timely and accurate service reports, timesheets, expense reports, film badges, and other paperwork as assigned.
  • Manage parts inventory in accordance with assigned Elekta objectives.
  • Properly maintain all Company-leased equipment including Company vehicle, parts, and tools.
  • Incorporate Elekta's Values into all department functions and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferably in Electronics, Physics, or an associated discipline is required; Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Possess good electro-mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in the use of test equipment and hand tools including oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  • Possess a good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices including ESD (electrostatic discharge) requirements.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills and be self-motivated with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently and in team environments.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner.
  • Flexible and adaptive; can take direction and organize reports to meet administrative deadlines.
