About the position

Molecular Devices is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be at the forefront of customer support, providing essential technical expertise and troubleshooting to resolve customer issues effectively. As a Field Service Engineer, you will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, handling a variety of responsibilities including troubleshooting, installations, validations, maintenance, and service repairs. You will also be responsible for completing necessary administrative tasks, such as documentation, to ensure a seamless service experience for our clients. Your role will not only involve direct customer interaction but also the identification of business opportunities that contribute to our growth. This includes recognizing potential leads for preventive maintenance, new service plans, and new system installations. You will play a crucial part in promoting a positive image of our service organization, focusing on customer satisfaction while building and maintaining professional relationships with clients. To succeed in this position, you will need to possess a strong technical background, ideally with an Associate's Degree in Engineering or Biology, along with at least one year of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Technical Degree in a related field with similar experience is acceptable. The role requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record, as travel is a significant component of the job, potentially involving up to 50% overnight stays, primarily domestic but occasionally international. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform various physical activities such as standing, walking, and climbing stairs. This position is also eligible for bonus and incentive pay, along with a competitive hourly wage range of $35.00 to $40.00. Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead to assigned customers, troubleshooting, installations, validations, maintenance, and service repair needs.
  • Complete required administrative responsibilities including documentation.
  • Identify business opportunities such as preventive maintenance, new service plan leads, and new system leads.
  • Promote a consistently positive image of the service organization and focus on customer needs and satisfaction.
  • Build and foster positive and professional relationships with customers.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Engineering/Biology with 1+ years of experience or Technical Degree in a related field with the same experience.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise and/or place up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), and sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in field service engineer positions in a related industry.
  • Scientific research instruments or a scientific background.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and the ability to quickly learn additional software applications.
