About the position

As a Field Service Engineer IV at Volt, you will play a crucial role in the installation and commissioning of advanced security systems, including Mid and Low Energy Portals, IP6500 Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS), and Exploranium Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) systems. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions effectively. You will be responsible for ensuring that installations meet project deadlines and quality standards while working closely with engineering teams during Factory Acceptance Testing. Your role will also involve maintaining clear communication with team members and clients, ensuring that all tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated. Given the nature of the job, you will be expected to work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel extensively, with approximately 75% of your time spent on the road, including potential OCONUS travel. This position is a contract opportunity based in Vista, CA, with a pay rate of $30-33 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission Mid and Low Energy Portals, IP6500 Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS), and Exploranium Radiation Portal Monitor (RPM) systems.
  • Isolate equipment start-up malfunctions and take corrective actions.
  • Perform technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, and software at customer and/or factory locations.
  • Work on equipment that has little or no documentation or training as needed.
  • Meet weekly project installation goals within required deadlines.
  • Support engineering activities during Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Ensure tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve success during installations of equipment and systems.
  • Maintain clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a US Passport for OCONUS travel.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective work relationships with peers from various backgrounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Computer literacy and competency in MS Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of x-ray and/or CT technologies.
  • Network installation and configuration experience.
  • PLC experience.
  • Previous field electrical assembly experience.
  • Certified forklift and aerial lift operator.
  • Experience with rigging and material handling.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA standards and practices.
  • Software integration experience with electric/mechanical equipment.
  • Bilingual language skills (Spanish) are a plus.
