About the position

As a Field Service Engineer for Bio-Rad's Global Commercial Operations Group, you will play a crucial role in providing critical assistance and care to customers in hospitals and laboratories throughout Maryland and surrounding states. Your primary responsibilities will include performing repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science instruments. This ensures that the equipment operates at optimal quality for the healthcare professionals who rely on it to advance the future of healthcare. You will also be expected to respond to emergencies and occasionally assist staff in other regions, utilizing your thorough knowledge of Bio-Rad's products to advocate for customers and deliver the highest levels of service and support. The position requires a travel commitment of up to 50%, as you will be using a company-provided vehicle to reach various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on Bio-Rad's Clinical Diagnostics and Life Science instruments.
  • Ensure the quality performance of instruments for customers working to advance healthcare.
  • Support and maintain Bio-Rad instruments that aid in scientific breakthroughs and healthcare research.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with customers to anticipate and advocate for their needs.
  • Adhere to FDA and GMP regulations with detailed record keeping and service documentation.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of transferable field service experience servicing electro-mechanical/electronic/optical/robotics equipment.
  • A.S. or B.S. in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or military equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow medium to highly complex work instructions.
  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong computer skills and fundamental knowledge of computer networking.
  • Strong customer relation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for daily travel.
