About the position

As a Field Service Engineer IV at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in troubleshooting and maintaining advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This position involves extensive travel (70% - 90%) to customer sites globally, where you will install, upgrade, and provide support for multimillion-dollar production systems. You will work independently and also mentor junior engineers, ensuring high-quality service and adherence to safety and operational guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Install leading-edge customer equipment and perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Use troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve complex equipment issues using company diagnostic tools.
  • Generate, follow, and possibly approve documented procedures and published task plans.
  • Lead projects when needed, document progress, and communicate with customers and internal business units.
  • Complete required job documentation, safety training, and procedures for processing parts.
  • Professionally represent Applied Materials to customers with a customer-first mindset.
  • Satisfy the company's and customer's on-site requirements, including safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Train junior engineers on site-related safety and troubleshooting procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or completion of military technical training and field experience or technical certification equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
  • 7-10 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and advanced knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, and/or thermodynamics.
  • Clear and effective written/verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of hand tools and proper usage, including a digital multimeter.
  • Advanced knowledge of wafer processing parameters and extensive knowledge of Applied Materials systems and company processes.
  • Project management skills and ability to lead key customer and internal product meetings.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with 200mm ETCH or 300mm semiconductor processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use calibration equipment and strong computer literacy.
