About the position

Amentum is seeking a MAPS (Mounted Assured Position, Navigation and Timing Systems) Field Service Engineer to join our Position, Navigation and Timing Program at Joint Base Lewis - McChord in Pierce County, Washington. You are a highly motivated and dedicated Field Service Technician. You're open to learning new technologies and performing in multiple roles related to these systems and the program overall. As a committed team member, you are resourceful and dedicated to providing services to military units, as well as taking the time to transfer their gained knowledge to the soldiers they interact with. You'll be excited to travel from the Central Texas area to unit locations throughout the United States and occasionally overseas; this will support required technical tasks, including inspecting unit equipment to determine serviceability of their Defense Advanced GPS Receivers, Dismounted Position, Navigation and Timing equipment, and loading updated Software and Firmware.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to gaining unit requirements pertaining to hardware, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Screens inoperable components to verify or eliminate faults.
  • Applies technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles in fault isolation, identifying malfunction cause, and restoring equipment/system operations.
  • Provides technical support to Army maintainers and operators as needed to increase maintainer and operator competency.
  • Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests and/or evaluates major systems, components, and associated support systems.
  • Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
  • Provides support for engineering staff conducting systems requirements analyses and provides design team input and forkful analysis for project engineering related tasks.
  • Supports systems integration efforts, configuration management, quality assurance testing or acquisition and resource management.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university in aeronautical, electronics, computer science, general engineering, or a closely related field, with at least 10 years of project related experience as a Technician V, or a High School Graduate with 14 years experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the development, test, and evaluation of major systems.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 40% of time.
  • Must have a valid U.S. passport through 2028 or longer, or are willing to obtain one within 90 days after your start date.
  • Must have an Active Secret US Government Clearance.

  • Senior or retired NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer).
