About the position

Instron is a global organization that designs, manufactures, sells and services mechanical testing systems. We have an opportunity for a highly motivated person whose work will reflect Instron's commitment to customer satisfaction. Working from home, out of the Eau Claire, WI area, you will be responsible for traveling to customer sites to perform a variety of services including verification, preventative maintenance, repair, and installation, on a wide range of Instron's products. You will be provided with a company vehicle, appropriate tools/equipment, including a laptop computer, cell phone, and MI-FI device and the assurance that you have the support of well-established service operation. You will have regional responsibility for customers located within Wisconsin and Minnesota. Occasional travel to other locations in the US may be required, as much as up to about 40% overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to perform verification, preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of Instron's products.
  • Provide customer service and support for mechanical testing systems.
  • Utilize provided tools and equipment, including a company vehicle, laptop, cell phone, and MI-FI device.

Requirements

  • Two or four-year technical degree from an accredited university or equivalent military/trade school training.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret basic technical information involving mechanics and electronics.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
  • Proficiency with PCs, including operating systems and Windows applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior field service experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with automation systems is a plus.
  • Experience performing preventative or corrective maintenance on servo hydraulic systems preferred.
  • Experience with materials testing preferred, but not required.
  • Experience delivering hands-on and classroom training on technical topics preferred.
