About the position

We are seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will provide maintenance, repair, and installation assistance for CNC machine tools, both on location and via telephone. Your technical expertise and excellent customer service skills will ensure our clients receive top-notch support and solutions. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality service to our customers, ensuring that their CNC machines are operating efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions that meet their specific requirements. Essential job functions include providing on-site and remote maintenance, repair, and installation assistance for CNC machine tools. You will also be responsible for creating and updating technical documentation, developing and analyzing service-related reports, and collaborating with customer service engineers to offer assistance and training on new product lines. Building and maintaining strong communication and customer service relationships is crucial, as is managing difficult customer situations positively, responding promptly to needs, and soliciting feedback for service improvement. Additionally, you may be required to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the satisfaction of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and remote maintenance, repair, and installation assistance for CNC machine tools.
  • Create and update technical documentation.
  • Develop and analyze service-related reports.
  • Collaborate with customer service engineers, offering assistance and training on new product lines.
  • Build and maintain strong communication and customer service relationships.
  • Manage difficult customer situations positively, respond promptly to needs, and solicit feedback for service improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools.
  • Experience with CNC machines, particularly Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and/or Siemens controls, is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder diagrams.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment, with the ability to manage competing demands and unexpected events.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% in a multi-state region; travel may be by driving or flying.
