About the position

ATS Scientific Products is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join our highly skilled service team in Warminster, PA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the service, maintenance, repair, testing, and calibration of complex equipment with minimal supervision. The position requires extensive travel to customer locations, making it essential for candidates to have a strong background in refrigeration, compressors, and systems. Additionally, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics is crucial. Experience with troubleshooting and repairing freeze-dryers is a significant advantage. As a Field Service Engineer, you will perform mid-level to advanced customer support activities, which include equipment installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance. You will also assist with equipment testing, start-up, and validation activities as needed. The role involves supervising and executing field installations and testing of equipment, providing customer technical support through various channels, and acting as the single point of contact for customers. You will be responsible for soliciting internal technical support and managing subcontractors as necessary. This position requires a broad knowledge of equipment, processes, and manufacturing to effectively support our products. The ideal candidate will work independently with minimal technical supervision and will be capable of autonomously troubleshooting various models of SP Scientific Equipment. This role is not just about technical skills; it also emphasizes the importance of safety and compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures. All employees are expected to report any health, safety, or environmental concerns promptly and to work in a safe manner at all times.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintenance, repair, testing, and calibration of complex equipment with minimal supervision.
• Perform mid-level to advanced customer support activities including equipment installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Assist with equipment testing, start-up, and validation activities as needed.
• Supervise and/or execute field installation and testing of equipment.
• Provide customer technical support including troubleshooting via phone, online, or in the field.
• Act as the single point of contact for customers, managing internal technical support and subcontractors as needed.
• Maintain broad equipment, process, and manufacturing knowledge critical to supporting equipment.
• Work independently with minimal technical supervision.
• Autonomously troubleshoot various models of SP Scientific Equipment.

Requirements

• AAS in electrical, mechanical, or mechanic disciplines or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in refrigeration, compressors, and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
• Experience with troubleshooting and repair of freeze-dryers is a plus.
• Basic understanding of PLC Controls including ladder logic.
• Familiarity and use of test equipment and hand tools.
• Plumbing skills, including piping and brazing.
• Electrical/Electronic knowledge and mechanical skills.
• Computer skills and understanding of technical instructions, schematics, blueprints, and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with advanced troubleshooting of complex mechanical and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to independently coordinate and perform the installation of complex, structural capital equipment.
• Experience in assembling complex, often large, mechanical assemblies.
