About the position

Saab is seeking experienced Field Engineers with a technical background and experience in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting radar, command and control (C2), or weapon systems in dynamic environments worldwide. This hands-on role requires extensive travel on short notice, with assignments that may exceed two weeks. Candidates must be able to work effectively in demanding operational settings. The ideal candidate has technical problem-solving skills, a desire to help others, and is comfortable training customers in both formal and on-the-job settings. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge defense technologies and contribute directly to mission success.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs and debugs complex systems utilizing manuals, schematics, and reach back support for various electro/mechanical issues that may arrive within the system.
  • Performs software installations at site and support data collection events for analysis.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues independently or in collaboration with others.
  • Responds to situations where first-line technicians have failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • Reports design, reliability, and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.
  • Acts as the main interface with customers while at site.
  • Support other company functional areas such as customer installation and training.
  • Deliver training to customers on operations and maintenance of Saab products.

Requirements

  • BA/ BS degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field OR 4+ years of relevant military service in radar, C2 systems, or weapon systems.
  • Must have U.S. DoD SECRET Clearance or have previously held one.
  • Must be capable of lifting and removing/replacing components weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with radar, C2, or weapon systems or other complex electrical systems.
  • Ability to independently perform system troubleshooting and maintenance using existing procedures to resolve issues.
  • Ability to perform system troubleshooting and maintenance beyond the scope of written procedures.
  • Effectively use problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to use common diagnostic test equipment such as DMM and oscilloscope.
  • Ability to identify degraded system performance and recommend methods for improvement.
