About the position

As a Remote Field Service Engineer specializing in generators at Baker Hughes, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our customers. This position is part of our new BRUSH Field Service team, which focuses on providing industry-leading products and services that optimize the extraction, production, and processing of energy. Your primary responsibility will be to provide electrical and winding repair services to customers operating a wide range of original equipment, including generators, motors, and ancillary systems. You will be expected to comply with OSHA, BRUSH, and other industry-standard health and safety practices to protect both life and property. In this role, you will interpret machine performance data, instrumentation readings, test values, specifications, technical requirements, and technical drawings to understand job scope requirements and assist in the performance of job functions. You will engage in hands-on overhauling and cleaning of large generators, which includes the necessary mechanical strip down and rebuild. Additionally, you will perform electrical testing to locate, diagnose, and repair winding faults, carry out basic mechanical strip down and rebuild of machines to gain access for winding work, and conduct in-situ winding repairs and partial/full rewinds on high and low voltage machine windings. Composing detailed and concise technical reports for customer acceptance and documentation of work performed while on-site will also be part of your responsibilities. You will attend technical meetings and functions as a liaison between the customer and BRUSH to ensure the delivery of satisfactory services. This position requires a technical degree from an accredited school and at least 2 years of field service experience with generator winding experience. You will need to demonstrate competencies with various tools, including basic hand tools, multi-meters, megger, rigging, and generator special tooling. Experience with generator high voltage testing and robotic test equipment is essential, and you must be available to travel domestically and internationally 75% - 85% of the time as business needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Technical degree from an accredited school.
  • 2+ years of field service experience with generator winding experience.
  • Competency with basic hand tools, multi-meters, megger, rigging, and generator special tooling.
  • Experience with generator high voltage testing such as PI, DC Leakage, and Hipot.
  • Experience with generator rotor and stator robotic test equipment such as RoGIS, MAGIC, and MAGIC Jr.
  • Ability and availability to travel domestically and internationally 75% - 85% of the time.
