About the position

The Field Service PLC Programmer at Groninger USA is a pivotal role that involves providing technical customer support for all company equipment and accessories. This includes the installation of new machines, warranty repairs, and customer training. The position requires a strong understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and the ability to program application and systems software to meet customer expectations. The programmer will also support customer onsite production runs, troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues, and ensure that service is performed based on agreed-upon customer requirements. Timely and accurate filing of service reports following customer visits is essential, as is supporting the company's strategic goals and values. This role offers an exciting opportunity for international travel, particularly for training in Germany, and requires a commitment to providing excellent customer service in a demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of new, updated, and/or retrofitted filling equipment.
  • Programming of application and systems software to meet customer expectations.
  • Support customer onsite production runs.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of equipment issues.
  • Perform service based on agreed-upon customer requirements.
  • Timely, complete, and accurate service report filing following customer visits.
  • Support the company strategic goals and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 or more years' experience in a related field and industry.
  • 3+ years experience programming PLC (Programmable Logic Control) controls in Siemens or Allen Bradley required.
  • Machine tool product knowledge.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and machine specifications.
  • Proficient electrical technical skills.
  • Availability for travel (up to 60%) domestic and international to customer sites.
  • Experience with the metric system preferred.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to creatively and independently troubleshoot and solve technical problems.

Nice-to-haves
