About the position

This position is an entry-level skilled role focused on training and skill development within the Marketing Equipment Maintenance (MEM) sector. The primary responsibility involves the installation, setup, repair, and ongoing maintenance of vending, cooling, and fountain equipment at customer accounts. The technician will diagnose equipment problems and use their judgment to determine the best course of action for repair or replacement. This role requires independent work and frequent interaction with customers, necessitating strong communication skills and a customer-oriented approach. The technician must also pass the Pepsi Pro certification within a specified timeframe to ensure compliance with company standards. The job entails physical demands, including lifting, carrying, pulling, and moving items weighing between 20 and 45 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday. The technician will often need to kneel, squat, crouch, crawl, and bend to make repairs, particularly in low spaces. Additionally, the role may require moving vending machines that weigh between 800 and 1200 pounds, which necessitates physical strength and stamina. The technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on marketing equipment, unloading and reloading products as necessary, and educating customers on basic equipment repair and upkeep procedures. They will also install equipment by making necessary connections for water and gas supply, as well as ensuring proper drainage for units with ice. The technician will drive to various locations, evaluate situations, and perform necessary work, which may include plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and carpentry tasks. Accurate documentation of equipment and customer information is essential, as is maintaining a parts inventory on the service truck. Establishing positive relationships with contacts during service calls is crucial for customer satisfaction and repeat business. The technician must adhere to all safety requirements and regulations while operating a company vehicle and complete all required training modules to build competence in diagnosing and repairing beverage industry equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on marketing equipment
  • Unload and reload with products as necessary
  • Educate customers on basic equipment repair and upkeep procedures
  • Install equipment by making holes and routing lines to connect products to dispensing unit, connecting water and gas supply, and finding drains for units with ice
  • Fill installed equipment and adjust to proper mixture
  • Drive to location, evaluate situation and perform necessary work (may include plumbing, electricity, refrigeration, carpentry)
  • Collect accurate and complete equipment and customer information
  • Remove old parts and replace with new parts
  • Maintain parts inventory on service truck
  • Establish positive relationships with contacts at service calls
  • Complete documentation on e-pad after each call
  • Transport miscellaneous items (e.g., compressors for repair/scrap, cardboard for recycle, etc.)
  • Follow all safety requirements, regulations, and processes
  • Adhere to all driving rules and regulations when operating company vehicle
  • Complete all job role training modules (Pepsi Pro training)
  • Build competence and skill in diagnosis and repair of beverage industry equipment
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be 21 years or older if CDL is required
  • Valid CDL license (if required)
  • Pass DOT Physical and DOT Road-test if required
  • Adhere to DOT Regulations

  • Experience working with mechanical systems (e.g., troubleshooting and repairing appliances, performing basic household repairs)
  • Experience serving customers (e.g., resolving customer issues, ensuring appropriate communication with store managers)
  • Experience working with basic refrigeration systems (e.g., understanding refrigeration cycle, Freon, compressors)
  • Experience working with electrical systems (e.g., understanding flow, wiring, outlets)
