About the position

The Field Services Engineer position involves providing on-site support for analytical instrumentation systems, primarily focusing on troubleshooting, hardware repair, installation, and customer training. This role requires extensive travel within the Nashville, TN area, with a strong emphasis on customer service and technical expertise. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and proactive maintenance solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to multiple sites within a specified region to provide onsite services including troubleshooting and hardware repair.
  • Perform basic software troubleshooting and product installation.
  • Conduct basic client training post installation.
  • Install hardware/software and network devices, configuring products at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve product performance problems.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal product functionality.
  • Advise customers on preventive maintenance and configurations to enhance product performance.
  • Proactively respond to potential equipment issues to prevent unplanned interruptions in customer operations.
  • Deliver fully integrated solutions, including peripherals, communications, operating systems, and applications software.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in electronics and/or chemistry or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience as a field engineer supporting Analytical Instrumentation products, with a focus on hardware support.
  • Basic knowledge of networking and ability to connect devices to the network.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and power systems.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical instruction sets and maintain a calm demeanor under tight deadlines.
  • Exemplary technical and process troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in log gathering and understanding of remote troubleshooting techniques and tools.
  • Case management experience, preferably with Salesforce Service Cloud.
  • Technical aptitude with a strong desire to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and analyze problems effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience providing technical support in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience with Chromatography systems (gas or liquid) is highly valuable.
