About the position

The Financial Analyst IV position involves data analysis and reporting, post-award support for SPA research administrators, financial analysis, and internship program management. The role requires identifying, collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting information to comply with internal and external requests. The analyst will prepare ad hoc reports for senior leadership, oversee sponsored program funds, and create user-friendly data visualizations for presentations and reports. Additionally, the position supports the SPA post-award team by providing regular reporting on various financial metrics and assists with complex award management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and report information to comply with and fulfill routine and/or specific internal and external requests.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports to provide information to senior leadership as needed for strategic planning/decision-making.
  • Prepare reports and data-visualizations for use by PIs, department chairs, center directors, and administration.
  • Oversee and audit sponsored program funds, collaborating with units to resolve issues.
  • Train PIs and administrators on sponsored program roles & responsibilities, accounting procedures, best practices, sponsor requirements, and compliance.
  • Prepare user-friendly data visualizations for presentations, reports, and interactive dashboards.
  • Conduct forensic analysis of departmental contacts and grants.
  • Support SPA post-award team to create efficiency and ensure award compliance.
  • Provide annual and bi-annual reporting to unit leaders for sponsored program awards & expenditures.
  • Responsible for monthly reporting, monitoring, and projections for SPA budget.
  • Analyze complex financial data and extract relevant information.
  • Design financial and sponsored program reports and assist in disseminating information to leadership.
  • Assist with complex award management activities and provide oversight to other employees.
  • Function as a post-award SME, answering finance-related questions and assisting leadership with training.
  • Provide comprehensive expense review and analysis for sponsored programs.
  • Assist SPA and IFAS units with the resolution of complex post-award issues.
  • Track, liaise with units, and reconcile Faculty Salary Savings Program funding.
  • Provide assistance and training for Research Administration & Finance interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area.
  • Six years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to independently audit funds for oversight, compliance, and training purposes.
  • Experience with complex budgets, accounting, and personnel functions.
