About the position

The Financial Analyst is relied upon and is a critical team member ensuring the integrity of financial statements and supporting the ongoing accounting, financial and operational activities that help enable Fora Health to operate effectively and efficiently. This position requires knowledge of accounting concepts, financial analysis techniques and an ability to explain these concepts and techniques to others. Proactivity and adaptability to the constant changes in the healthcare industry are essential, along with a desire to learn and grow and seek opportunities for improvement. The role demands self-motivation and self-direction resulting in both identifying issues or opportunities and solving or capitalizing on those opportunities. Collaboration and team participation with a positive attitude and strong work ethic are also crucial. A data-driven mindset with curiosity to explore new tools and techniques for accessing and translating data efficiently and effectively is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and provide backup for payroll processing and related activities.
  • Review accounts payable entries for accurate data entry including appropriate coding and approvals and in rare cases, provide AP back-up support.
  • Administer the organization’s credit card program including the use of Concur for expense reporting.
  • Reconcile daily cash activity and prepare weekly accounts payable disbursement schedule.
  • Prepare monthly departmental financial analysis and provide feedback and recommendations to department leadership.
  • Support annual budget preparation including template preparation, financial modeling, program guidance, and recommendations.
  • Create and update financial models for evaluating potential program or service changes.
  • Support the key operational programs with ongoing analysis and modeling to help drive efficiencies and improve program growth and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual external financial audit.
  • Review and track vendor and grant agreements.
  • Identify and problem-solve issues as encountered using critical thinking, analytics and collaboration.
  • Continuously improve existing processes to enable increased accuracy and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or related field.
  • 2-3 years accounting and/or finance experience preferred.
  • CMA or CPA preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel (required).
  • Experience with financial software applications.
  • Non-profit and/or healthcare accounting or finance experience preferred but not required.
  • Keen problem solving skills with the ability to identify and solve problems with minimal support.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance positions.
  • Exceptional ability to work independently using project management skills.
