As a Fitness Teacher, you will cultivate students' curiosity, engagement, growth, and performance across academic, intellectual, social, and emotional domains. Responsibilities

  • Communicate learning goals and feedback to students.
  • Establish rules and procedures for classroom behavior.
  • Help students interact, practice, and deepen their knowledge.
  • Engage students and recognize adherence to norms and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with students.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment aligned with 'Love and Logic' principles.
  • Implement the Spark Fitness Curriculum in K-8.
  • Research and implement appropriate fitness challenges and nutrition units.
  • Differentiate fitness curriculum to meet individual student needs.
  • Integrate fitness curriculum with academic domains and classes.
  • Communicate proactively and positively with students, parents, and teammates.
  • Build relationships and mentor students to empower them as leaders.
  • Inspire and motivate students to participate in after-school sports and clubs.
  • Evaluate personal performance and develop a professional growth plan.
  • Contribute actively as a team member to promote a positive environment.
  • Maintain care and responsibility for school-owned fitness supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Teaching certification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of classroom experience required.
  • Evidence of content mastery in fitness education.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to igniting curiosity and making learning fun and challenging.
  • Proficient use of computer software, Google, and learning management systems (Blackbaud preferred).
  • Ability to grant permission for a criminal background check upon hire.
  • Meet physical demands to perform essential functions of the role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Next Generation learning methodologies.
  • Strong background in fitness and health education.
