Fleet Manager

About the position

We are seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee our fleet operations at M&S Delivery, Inc. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient management of our vehicles and drivers, contributing to our mission of providing reliable delivery services. The Fleet Manager will play a key role in maintaining safety standards and optimizing fleet performance.

Responsibilities

• Communicate in a professional manner with both FedEx and drivers while building and maintaining a positive attitude to strengthen driver satisfaction and productivity.
• Demonstrate strong managerial decision-making skills.
• Effectively schedule drivers to cover full routes of drivers that call off or have scheduled time off, and additional demand from FedEx.
• Fill in driving - MUST HAVE CDL CLASS A.
• Manage routes to maximize efficiency and productivity, reducing dead time in driver’s daily schedules.
• Maintain Driver detention time.
• Enforce driver expectations.
• Perform weekly truck inspections as trained by Mechanics to help reinforce and catch items missed by drivers.
• Conduct minor truck repairs.
• Communicate changes that happen to routes immediately.
• Enforce company policies, general & safety, to ensure that compliance is met & document when it is not.
• Ensure uniformity of company trucks; making sure that all decals are in the same location, all truck binders are in the same order, and all supplies are in the same location.
• Perform road tests and onboarding training with new hires.
• Review HOS violations, certifications, and unidentified events: coach drivers on related violations.
• Review safety events on Motive to coach drivers, document reoccurring events, and reinforce company safety policies.
• Conduct bi-monthly documented safety meetings.
• Set personnel expectations that align with company expectations and communicate with all personnel.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fleet management or a related field.
• Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with drivers, clients, and vendors.
• Proficient in using fleet management software or similar tools.
