About the position

Zolman Tire, Inc. is seeking a full-time Fleet Service Repair Technician to join their team at the Galesburg location. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on commercial vehicles, ensuring superior service and education for customers. The technician will work closely with management and service advisors to address vehicle issues efficiently and effectively, contributing to a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, adjust, and repair light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles including pick-ups, Class 3-8 trucks, buses, RVs, SUVs, off-road vehicles, emergency vehicles, and trailers.
• Communicate with management/service writers to gather or verify information and advise on expected repair times.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues to determine the most cost-effective approach to fix or resolve problems.
• Travel to locations of disabled equipment to diagnose and repair issues as needed, including after-hours calls on a rotating basis.
• Consult with other mechanics to discuss problems or questions regarding processes or procedures.
• Operate equipment after repairs to ensure satisfactory completion of the work.
• Maintain current knowledge and skills needed to diagnose and repair heavy equipment and trucks.
• Follow established company policies and guidelines for safety, quality, and customer service, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with inventory management as needed.
• Complete required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment in good repair.
• Keep the work area orderly, including cleaning up spills and properly discarding old parts and materials.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• 2-4 years of experience in the commercial automotive repair industry preferred.
• Knowledge of trailer maintenance and repairs is helpful.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company insurance requirements.
• ASE Service Manager certification preferred.
• TIA Commercial 200 level certification.
• Michigan Mechanic's license.
• Ongoing training as required by company standards.
