About the position

The Flight Training Instructional Systems Designer (FTISD) at United Airlines is responsible for designing and developing pilot training content using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies. This role involves creating eLearning content, technical manuals, and various pilot training materials, ensuring high-quality instructional design and effective training delivery. The FTISD will work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines, contributing to the overall mission of connecting people and uniting the world through safe and efficient flight operations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop pilot training content using ISD methodologies.
  • Create eLearning content, technical manuals, and pilot training materials.
  • Incorporate graphics, audio, video, animation, and other digital media into training materials.
  • Maintain and manage revisions of technical instructional manuals.
  • Plan, manage time, and execute projects both individually and in group settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years of experience in Instructional Systems Design or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of technical writing experience, focusing on sophisticated technical training materials.
  • Ability to write, update, edit, and review technical documentation using established formats and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of basic editorial standards and ability to apply them consistently.
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline 360 and technical authoring tools.
  • Proficient in developing eLearning modules or courseware.
  • Experience working in a team environment with multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design.
  • eLearning Development Certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing.
  • Experience using ADDIE development methods.
  • Detailed knowledge of curriculum design and development.
  • Experience with Oxygen authoring software.
  • Proven experience in the aviation industry or a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including editing course content.
  • Knowledge of graphic arts design, multimedia production, video, and digital photography.
