About the position

The primary purpose of the Floor Technician position at The Encore at Boca Raton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is to perform assigned floor care functions in accordance with the facility's standards and procedures. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment for residents and staff. The Floor Technician will work under the direction of the Supervisor and the Housekeeping department, ensuring that all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, as the technician must be available to work both day and night shifts, including weekends, to accommodate the needs of the facility. In this role, the Floor Technician will be responsible for following work and cleaning schedules closely, reporting any accidents or incidents to the Supervisor immediately, and coordinating daily floor cleaning services with nursing staff. The technician will also be tasked with maintaining cleanliness in resident living areas and recreational spaces, ensuring that all areas are kept tidy and hygienic. Specific duties include cleaning floors through various methods such as sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and disinfecting to maintain a high gloss finish on all hard surfaces. Additionally, the Floor Technician will perform preventative maintenance checks on cleaning equipment, secure work areas, and adhere to safety protocols. The role involves cleaning vacant rooms, performing isolation cleaning procedures as per infection control guidelines, and ensuring that all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored. Attention to detail is crucial, as the technician must routinely check corners, baseboards, and behind equipment to ensure a dust-free environment. Overall, the Floor Technician plays a vital role in upholding the cleanliness and safety standards of the facility, contributing to the well-being of residents and staff alike.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as possible
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your Supervisor immediately
  • Coordinate daily floor cleaning services with nursing services
  • Turn in all found or unclaimed articles to your Supervisor
  • Keep the resident environment clean at all times
  • Perform specific tasks according to daily work assignments
  • Clean up spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed or directed
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are followed
  • Perform preventative maintenance check on all equipment before use
  • Secure work area and post proper safety notices before beginning work
  • Clean floors, including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and burnishing
  • Clean vacant rooms as assigned
  • Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment is properly stored
  • Perform isolation cleaning procedures under established infection control procedures
  • Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers
  • Remove gum from floors as quickly as possible
  • Ensure hard floors remain free of dust and marks
  • Routinely check corners and edgings, ensuring they are kept dust-free
  • Ensure baseboards are kept free of wax
  • Clean behind doors and equipment

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have one (1) year experience in floor care; preferred one (1) year in healthcare
