Our client, a growing food manufacturer located in Bartlett, IL, is in search of an innovative Food Chemist to provide expertise with the development of formulations for current and future products. This role involves creating new products from conceptualization to commercialization, as well as improving the nutritional quality, flavor, and texture of food products. To be successful in this role, the individual should be able to interpret and apply scientific findings to food, know how to translate findings into innovative products, and understand how to translate business objectives into clear project goals. The Food Chemist will manage the food chemistry testing laboratory and conduct research and experiments to develop new food products and processes. This includes analyzing and modifying food ingredients to improve nutritional value, developing methods for preserving and processing food products, and evaluating the quality of food ingredients and products. The role also requires the development of food safety protocols, creating food recipes and formulas, and designing and testing food packaging. Communication with other departments is essential to ensure that food products meet customer specifications, and the Food Chemist will also determine the nutritional content of food, analyze the chemical composition and structure of food, and research new food sources. Additionally, the individual will identify and develop new preservatives, additives, and food processing techniques to enhance quality and safety, as well as analyze raw materials and perform other duties as assigned.
