About the position

As the Food Editor, Culinary, for Taste of Home, you will play a pivotal role in providing dietetic and culinary support on various recipe-related initiatives, including sponsorships and custom publishing projects. Your expertise in SEO will be essential as you develop, edit, and test recipes while managing the brand's recipe contests. In your capacity as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, you will offer nutritional analysis and expertise for health-related content across Taste of Home and other brands. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Culinary, your primary responsibility will be to execute high-quality and accurate recipes that can be utilized across all food media products. This position requires a high level of organization, flexibility, and enthusiasm for managing both people and projects, making you a critical member of the Culinary Team and a key player in enhancing Taste of Home's authority in the food space. In this role, you will be driven by your passion for cooking, creating, and inspiring others. You are a highly creative individual with a strong desire for meaningful and enjoyable work. Your diverse skill set has allowed you to demonstrate success in various aspects of this role, including managerial experience and comfort in front of the camera. You will be expected to pivot between projects and be self-motivated to produce the best content possible, whether it be recipes, videos, articles, or product reviews. Collaboration with colleagues and providing regular feedback to help others grow will be essential, as you will be managing both in-person and remote teams in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities

  • Provide recipe editing, development, frequent testing and recipe management system (RMS) database support for Culinary and Editorial teams, and native and sponsored content for Marketing.
  • Oversee and execute recipe contests, including ideation, rules, sorting submissions, timelines and databasing.
  • Manage the in-house Recipe Editor/Tester and occasional freelance recipe developers/testers.
  • Share nutritional expertise and have Registered Dietician Nutritionist qualifications.
  • Play an active role in creating content that builds relevancy, authority and community for Taste of Home and other brands across all platforms (video, digital, print).
  • Utilize content and digital asset management systems (such as Airtable for workflows, RMS for recipes, and Woodwing Assets for files).
  • Participate in product testing for Affiliate content.
  • Tackle assignments with direction from the Executive Director, Culinary and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a related field from an accredited university; additional experience in Journalism, English or Communications preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program.
  • Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) in good standing.
  • Familiarity with SEO-based best practices for recipe development; experience with a tool like SEMrush preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working with high-performing editorial teams, preferably with a food media brand.
  • 2+ years of experience managing people.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize, consistently meeting deadlines and catching all the details whether working independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective writing and speaking skills; comfortable accepting and giving constructive feedback in a collaborative environment with a commitment to supporting an evolving, dynamic team.
