About the position

The Food Service Assistant Cook at McKenzie County Public School District 1 plays a vital role in the kitchen, responsible for prepping, cooking, and serving meals to students in a professional and efficient manner. This position requires adherence to all food safety policies and procedures, ensuring that the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety are maintained to pass Health Department inspections. The Assistant Cook will work closely with the Lead Cook and other kitchen staff to create a positive dining experience for students while following state nutritional guidelines and understanding special nutritional needs. In addition to cooking and serving, the Assistant Cook will be involved in menu planning and understanding the nutritional content of meals. The Assistant Cook will also be responsible for inventory control, waste management, and planned maintenance on kitchen equipment, contributing to the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the kitchen environment.
