About the position

The Food Service Manager at the Elementary School is responsible for administering the food service program at the school level in an efficient and effective manner. This role is crucial in ensuring that the nutritional requirements for students and staff are met in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. The manager will oversee the planning, preparation, and service of daily meals, ensuring that all food service operations comply with health, sanitation, and safety regulations. The position requires considerable knowledge of food values and nutrition, as well as the ability to maintain an up-to-date inventory of food and non-food supplies. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for requisitioning supplies and managing the food service equipment effectively. The Food Service Manager will also play a key role in developing and supervising a staff capable of accomplishing the objectives of the food service program. This includes conducting nutrition education projects for students, which is essential for promoting healthy eating habits. The manager must possess a basic understanding of accounting principles to manage the financial aspects of the food service program effectively. The position requires the ability to use a computer for various administrative tasks, including inventory management and staff scheduling. Responsibilities

  • Administer the food service program at the school level.
  • Plan, prepare, and serve daily meals in compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of food and non-food supplies.
  • Requisition food and non-food supplies as needed.
  • Supervise and develop staff to meet program objectives.
  • Conduct nutrition education projects for students.
  • Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
  • Manage food service equipment effectively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in school food service.
  • Experience in quantity cooking, baking, and cashiering.
  • Completion of at least five food service training courses including Safety and Sanitation, Food Preparation I, Food Preparation II, Equipment Use and Care, and Nutrition.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
