Foreign Language Teacher (Spanish) - $3500 Sign-On Bonus

About the position

The Foreign Language Teacher (Spanish) position at Burch Charter School Of Excellence is designed for grades K-5. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the teacher will develop students' knowledge, skills, and abilities in comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing Spanish, while also fostering an understanding and appreciation of the native culture of Spanish-speaking countries. The position is set to begin on September 1, 2024, with a closing date for applications on September 13, 2024. A sign-on bonus of $3500 is offered for this role.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers foreign language education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences.
• Teaches knowledge and skills in Spanish, including comprehension, grammar and syntax, sentence and paragraph structure, composition, vocabulary, and proper word usage.
• Develops student understanding and appreciation of the cultures and mores of Spanish-speaking countries.
• Works with students to prepare materials for literary publications and contests.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field.
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies.
• Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies.

Requirements

• State Certification as a foreign language teacher in Spanish.
• Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in a related area preferred.
• Successful prior foreign language teaching experience.
