About the position

The Foundation Director is a pivotal role at Glendive Medical Center (GMC), responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of the Foundation's activities. This position is crucial in leading efforts to raise philanthropic resources that align with the mission and vision of GMC. The Foundation Director acts as a liaison between the Foundation Board and GMC Administration, ensuring the successful execution of fundraising initiatives. This role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to foster relationships with various stakeholders, including hospital staff, community groups, and potential donors. In this capacity, the Foundation Director will develop and implement a comprehensive resource development plan that encompasses various fundraising strategies such as annual funds, planned giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and special projects. The Director will also represent GMC at community functions in a fundraising capacity, serving as the principal individual responsible for soliciting major gifts. Additionally, the role involves the development and administration of fundraising policies and procedures, as well as conducting annual reviews to assess the effectiveness of these strategies. The Foundation Director will be responsible for financial management within the department, which includes developing the annual budget, investment policy, and monthly financial reports. Building and maintaining positive relationships with hospital staff, the Foundation Board, and community groups is essential. The Director will also serve as a public advocate for GMC, communicating significant developments in the Foundation to various stakeholders. Furthermore, the role includes providing ongoing education and guidance to the Foundation Board and its committees, overseeing all internal and external events, and ensuring effective donor recognition programs are in place. The Director will also capitalize on grant funding opportunities and stay informed about best practices in fundraising and development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive resource development plan, including annual fund, planned giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and special projects.
  • Represent GMC in a fundraising capacity at special community functions.
  • Serve as the principal person responsible for the one-on-one solicitation of major gifts.
  • Develop and administer fundraising policies and procedures, as well as conduct annual reviews.
  • Develop and monitor annual department goals.
  • Responsible for department financial management, including the development of the annual budget and monthly financial reports.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with hospital staff, Foundation Board, Hospital Board, medical staff, and community.
  • Serve as a public advocate for GMC, discussing significant public foundation developments with stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing education and guidance to the Foundation Board and its committees.
  • Responsible for overall strategy for all foundation internal and external events.
  • Play a key role in providing overall concept and messaging for the Foundation's marketing collateral.
  • Oversee organization of all fundraising projects and donor recognition programs.
  • Capitalize on grant funding opportunities on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in fundraising and development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communication, or other related field required.
  • At least three years of fundraising experience and nonprofit sector experience highly preferred.
  • Professional Foundation/Development credentialing preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledge of financial management.
  • Excellent analytical abilities that can be applied in aligning the organization's objectives with available funding opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with the public and volunteers.
