About the position

The primary responsibility of the Fountain Worker at Nook Express is to provide exceptional customer service while accurately handling cash register transactions. This role requires a cheerful demeanor as the Fountain Worker greets guests and prepares food and beverages according to their requests. The position is essential in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring that all guests have a pleasant experience. The Fountain Worker must engage in friendly conversations with guests, adhering to the 10/5 Rule: making eye contact and smiling from 10 feet away, and greeting and speaking to guests from 5 feet away. In addition to customer interaction, the Fountain Worker is responsible for accurately inputting orders into the POS terminal and ensuring that all transactions are processed correctly. This includes giving the correct change and accounting for all cash, charge, and complimentary sales according to established procedures. The worker must maintain the integrity of all financial controls and responsibilities while preparing drinks to order based on established recipes and time guidelines. Timely delivery of products to customers is crucial, as is maintaining high levels of customer service at all times. The Fountain Worker is also tasked with maintaining appropriate stock levels in their area, assisting in the upkeep of display cases, and ensuring cleanliness in the working area and surrounding condiment areas in accordance with health and safety standards. This role may involve assisting co-workers and management in getting food products to customers, as well as training new staff during their training period. Periodic cleaning tasks assigned by management and attendance at mandatory meetings and training classes are also part of the job. The Fountain Worker must be prepared to resolve guest complaints quickly and inform management of any issues that arise. Basic food preparation and service, such as preparing sandwiches or salads, may also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive customer service to restaurant guests and staff.
  • Engage in friendly conversations with guests using the 10/5 Rule.
  • Accurately input all orders into the POS terminal.
  • Post all transactions on the POS terminal, giving correct change and accounting for all sales according to established procedures.
  • Make drinks to order in accordance with established recipes and time guidelines.
  • Deliver products to customers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service at all times.
  • Thank guests for their patronage.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels in the area.
  • Assist in maintaining display cases and pastry par levels.
  • Keep designated working area clean and organized, and assist in maintaining cleanliness of surrounding areas.
  • Assist co-workers as needed and help management in getting food products to customers.
  • Assist in training new Fountain Counter Persons and new management staff during their training period.
  • Perform periodic cleaning tasks assigned by management.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training classes assigned.
  • Resolve guest complaints expeditiously and inform management of the complaints.
  • Prepare or serve menu items, such as sandwiches or salads.

Requirements

  • Must have 6 months previous cash handling experience.
  • Effective communication in English, both verbal and written, in a professional manner.
  • Must present a neat and professional appearance.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to interact with customers, the public, and co-workers.
  • Experience using a computer and/or cash register.
