About the position

The FP&A Sr. Analyst reports directly to the Associate Director, School of Medicine Finance and works closely with the Director, School of Medicine Finance. The position serves as the Dean's Office FP&A partner to multiple clinical departments varying in size and complexity and will be responsible for supporting Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) services that will enable clinical department leaders and SOM leadership to make timely decisions and achieve desired financial results.

Responsibilities

  • Support Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) services for clinical departments
  • Analyze actual vs plan reporting, explain the underlying drivers, track key clinical operational metrics, develop assumptions to model forward-looking financial reports
  • Provide consulting and strategic support to SOM clinical departments and Sr. leadership team
  • Manage relationships with SOM departments and other stakeholders through strategic planning analysis of trends, scenario planning, and providing actionable insights
  • Support analyses from a school-wide perspective and play an essential supporting role in most aspects of SOM's financial planning and reporting

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of financial modeling and forecasting techniques with demonstrated ability to build robust models to accurately predict future performance, develop scenarios and stress-test assumptions, and provide insights to support strategic planning and decision-making
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to translate complex data into executive presentations
  • Knowledge of GAAP or GASB, finance policies, practices, and systems
  • Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources
  • Expert ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Expert ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to synthesize and integrate highly complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
  • Expert interpersonal and consulting skills at all levels within the organization
  • Expert service orientation, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred
  • 10 years of experience with BA/BS or equivalent experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 to 3 years in accounting, 3-5 years in FP&A

Nice-to-haves
