About the position

As a Front Desk Agent at IHG Hotels & Resorts, you will be the first point of contact for guests, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for their stay. Your role will involve handling transactions, offering local insights, and ensuring a friction-free experience for every guest. You will manage guest bookings, handle cash and credit transactions, and check guests in and out efficiently. Additionally, you will be responsible for anticipating guests' needs, addressing their concerns, and providing them with information about events and activities during their stay.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge IHG Rewards Club members and returning guests, in person or on the phone
  • Take and manage guest bookings, up-selling opportunities and informing them about ways to improve their stay
  • Handle cash and credit transactions
  • Check guests in and out swiftly, taking IDs, handing out room keys, and managing safety deposit boxes
  • Record and act on guests' preferences, and handle their messages, requests, questions, and concerns
  • Assist guests with bill issues and provide local knowledge, involving management when necessary
  • Report all incidents and adhere to safety procedures
  • Maintain a professional appearance as a brand ambassador
  • Stay informed about daily events and activities
  • Assist colleagues with ad-hoc duties as needed

Requirements

  • Availability to work varying shifts across a 7-day period, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
  • Strong communication skills to address guest concerns and compliments
  • Problem-solving skills to turn issues into opportunities
  • Fluency in the local language; additional language skills are a plus
  • Literate and tech-savvy with a good grasp of reading, writing, basic math, and computers
  • Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a college or university degree is a bonus
  • At least one year of experience in a front desk or guest service position
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50lbs (23 kg), which may involve bending and kneeling
