About the position

The Front-End Driver position at GFL Environmental involves operating front-end trucks to collect and transport waste or recyclables from various multi-family residential and commercial routes. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and effective customer interaction while ensuring the cleanliness of the service area. Responsibilities

  • Drive commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to collect solid waste.
  • Open container enclosures or gates to access cans and roll 3-4-yard cans into position for dumping.
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections and submit vehicle condition reports.
  • Interact courteously with customers and respond to their inquiries along the route.
  • Clean loose trash off the truck and surrounding area after dumping to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintain and submit a DOT logbook, daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report as required.
  • Maneuver the truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces using mirrors.
  • Use a key map and GPS to locate service addresses.
  • Follow safe operating practices and adhere to all relevant regulations.
  • Monitor operations for loose debris and ensure proper site cleanliness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is desired.
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
  • Ability to meet safety-sensitive function criteria according to company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment.

  • Ability to control equipment operations and maneuver the truck in tight spaces.
  • Ability to recognize unacceptable waste materials.
