About the position

As a Front of Store Attendant at Target, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and engaging shopping experience for our guests. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy interacting with people. You will be responsible for ensuring that the front of the store is clean, organized, and inviting, which includes maintaining the appearance of the store and assisting guests with their needs. Your primary focus will be on guest service, where you will greet guests, assist them with inquiries, and provide information about products and services available in the store. You will also be empowered to make shopping quick and easy for guests at various service points, including checklanes and guest services. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop essential skills in guest service fundamentals, communication, and problem-solving. You will learn to adapt to different guest interactions and situations, ensuring that each guest feels valued and appreciated. Your responsibilities will include observing guests to identify their needs, engaging with them in a genuine manner, and providing assistance as required. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the store, including emptying garbage cans, attending to restroom cleanliness, and ensuring that carts and baskets are well-stocked and clean for guests. Additionally, you will be expected to stay informed about current and upcoming store activities, promotions, and loyalty programs, and assist guests with their inquiries regarding these offerings. You will work closely with team leaders to de-escalate any negative situations and recover the guest shopping experience while adhering to Target's policies and procedures. Safety is a priority, and you will be expected to work in a safe manner at all times, identifying and correcting hazards as necessary. Overall, this position offers a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same, and you will have the chance to make a positive impact on the guest experience at Target.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience by delivering the service standard through a clean front of store.
  • Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests.
  • Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact.
  • Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their specific needs.
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the store to solve issues for the guest.
  • Thank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target.
  • Provide an easy shopping experience by keeping carts and baskets well stocked and clean for guests.
  • Maintain interior and exterior brand, including emptying garbage cans and attending to restroom cleanliness.
  • Evaluate cart condition and request maintenance as needed.
  • Stock supplies during store open hours while being available for the guest.
  • Make the guest aware of current and upcoming brand launches, store activities, and events.
  • Understand and show guests how to use Wallet and the other features within the Target App.
  • Partner with Leaders as needed to de-escalate any negative situations and recover the guest shopping experience.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others; identify and correct hazards; comply with all safety policies and best practices.

Requirements

  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various climates.
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving product up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and reliable and prompt attendance necessary.
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
