About the position

The Full-Time ELA Teacher for Grade 7 at Atlantis Charter School is responsible for creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment that prioritizes the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. The teacher will adhere to Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the school's curriculum while effectively managing the classroom and promoting student learning and achievement. This role requires collaboration with a diverse team and active involvement in the school community beyond the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to MA Curriculum Frameworks and ACS Curriculum.
  • Efficiently organize and execute lesson plans.
  • Effectively manage the classroom environment.
  • Promote student learning and achievement.
  • Demonstrate effective teaching strategies.
  • Appropriately use technology in the classroom.
  • Promote equity and fairness in the classroom.
  • Measure student achievement and progress.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Interact professionally with a diverse range of constituents.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record as defined by ACS policy.
  • Take responsibility for assigned tasks and projects while maintaining professionalism.
  • Engage in job/career growth through professional development opportunities.
  • Listen actively and respond respectfully to the opinions of others.
  • Foster a positive attitude in the workplace.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in the area of certification preferred.
  • Valid Teaching License recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or evidence of eligibility to obtain such licensure within one year of employment.
  • Ability to pass relevant MTEL's within one year of employment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to relate well to others.
  • Experience creating instructional materials and hands-on learning activities preferred.
  • At least one year of teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience using technology in the classroom preferred.
  • Understanding of the various challenges students in an urban setting face and ability to adapt teaching style as needed.
  • Knowledge of charter schools and their unique characteristics.
