About the position

The Head Cashier at Lowe's is responsible for overseeing the checkout area, ensuring excellent customer service, and managing cash register operations. This role involves supervising the Front End Team, assisting customers with transactions, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. The Head Cashier plays a crucial role in enhancing customer satisfaction and supporting the overall efficiency of the store's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist customers at self-checkout registers.
  • Provide SMART customer service by understanding customer needs and assisting with merchandise.
  • Train and coach associates in departmental duties and sales opportunities.
  • Process sales transactions, returns, and refunds using a cash register.
  • Supervise and support the CSA Front End Team.
  • Prepare the register area at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Inspect returned merchandise for damages and manage online orders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Detect signs of shoplifting and communicate with management.
  • Operate store equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of experience using a computer for information management.
  • 1 to 2 years of retail experience as a cashier.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in identifying and selling products based on customer needs.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as a head cashier.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in any field.
