About the position

The FWS - Photographer / Videographer position at the Owens OutComm Student Media Center is designed exclusively for current students at Owens Community College who are eligible for Federal Work-Study. This role involves capturing still images and video for various streaming services, as well as for programming scheduled through the OutComm Student Media Center (OSMC). The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup and storage of cameras and lighting equipment used in still and video shoots, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and stored after use. Additionally, the role includes the management of digital storage media, including the updating and backing up of digital storage cards, mini DV tapes, and DVDs/CDs. The position requires a basic understanding of photo and video camera operations, as well as familiarity with social media platforms. The candidate should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, along with computer proficiency. A willingness to learn new programs and technologies is essential, as is the ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and independent decision-making skills. Meeting deadlines and possessing strong organizational skills are critical, as the role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously. Essential functions of the position include assisting with the setup, operation, and teardown of cameras and lighting for scheduled program shoots at OSMC. The candidate will also assist in preparing media cards, mini DVs, DVDs, and CDs, and may conduct training sessions and meetings to support other OSMC volunteer staff. Training OSMC staff in the implementation of policies and procedures is also a key responsibility. Attendance at meetings as needed and active participation in OSMC integrated media projects are expected.

Responsibilities

Requirements

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range of $10.45-$12.50.
