About the position

The General Farm and Ranch Worker position at Bar C Ranch LLC involves a variety of tasks related to livestock production and farm maintenance. This temporary full-time role is essential for the care and management of livestock, particularly during the calving season and the transition of cattle to summer grazing ranges. The position requires physical labor, mechanical skills, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supplement feed and water for livestock from February through April.
  • Assist with calving from mid-March through May.
  • Examine livestock to detect diseases and injuries.
  • Assist with the vaccination of livestock by herding them into a corral or manually restraining them.
  • Apply medications to cuts and bruises on livestock.
  • Spray livestock with insecticide.
  • Assist with the castration of livestock.
  • Clip identifying notches or brands on animals.
  • Manually clean stalls and corrals.
  • Move cattle to the range to graze on natural grasslands from May to October.
  • Drive and control farm equipment for the production of hay and perform minor repairs on the equipment.
  • Maintain facilities and grounds, including existing fences.

Requirements

  • 3 months of experience in farm or ranch work.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Mechanical skills and experience to operate farm machinery with GPS.
  • Physical coordination and decision-making ability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with livestock handling and care.
  • Knowledge of agricultural equipment operation.
