About the position
The General Liability Claims Adjuster II at Ahold Delhaize USA is responsible for managing and investigating General Liability claims to determine liability exposure. This role involves direct interaction with various stakeholders, including associates, attorneys, and healthcare providers, while ensuring compliance with legal obligations and achieving established claims goals. The position supports a hybrid work schedule, requiring one in-person day and four remote days per week.
Responsibilities
- Manage caseload within established targets and appropriate levels.
- Conduct thorough investigations, evaluations, negotiation, and disposition of all claims.
- Monitor and ensure timely execution of all statutory deadlines or legal filings.
- Analyze facts of the loss to develop strategies for optimal outcomes and mitigate Total Cost of Risk.
- Identify fraud indicators and pursue subrogation opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Safety department to identify and minimize risks in retail and distribution operations.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Manage a book of claims business with authority to settle claims up to $25,000.
- Communicate ongoing causes of incidents to Safety and Brands.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for claim issues impacting various stakeholders.
- Research and resolve claim/legal issues and provide timely communication regarding claims.
Requirements
- Licensed adjuster (as appropriate by jurisdiction).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience handling General Liability claims.
- Thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, statutes, and procedures pertaining to general liability claims.
- Knowledge of medical terminology involved in complex claims.
