About the position

The General Maintenance Technician role at Constellium involves installing, repairing, and servicing various electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment throughout the plant. The technician is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency of equipment through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation, while also providing expertise in automation and instrumentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up instrumentation from out of the box to full implementation, including wiring, configuration, and programming.
  • Completing preventative maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, gas, acid, water, coolant systems, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines.
  • Updating maintenance-related documentation according to site document control procedures.
  • Locating sources of problems through condition monitoring and initiating corrective actions to prevent unscheduled downtime.
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions and writing detailed explanations of the causes of issues.
  • Dismantling devices to remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, and hand tools.
  • Inspecting used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using measuring instruments.
  • Informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques to control downtime.
  • Fabricating repair parts as necessary using machine shop instruments and equipment.
  • Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by following parts check out procedures and placing orders as needed.
  • Providing electrical and mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Installing machinery, including leveling, aligning, testing, and debugging.
  • Providing expertise in Siemens PLC Control Systems for troubleshooting automation and instrumentation.
  • Reading and following drawings and documenting machine control modifications.
  • Providing input for documentation of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Using required control software, including PLCs, HMIs, and various motor drive systems.
  • Operating production equipment in conjunction with required maintenance.
  • Performing Lock-out duties as necessary for all energy sources as the Authorized Person.
  • Updating daily logs and entering work orders.
  • Coordinating contractors through the issuing of Work Permits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of all Microsoft applications is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance required, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
